history
In terms of research history, the community is significant due to the prospecting near the village of Fontès, which is used as a measure of definition for the Carboniferous and Mississippian eras . As a copper deposit (Pioch Farrus), the area around Cabrières was an important place during the Bronze Age. In the early Middle Ages there was a Merovingian fortress here, which fell to the Visigoths at the beginning of the 6th century and was then expanded by them. Today only remains of the wall can be seen.
The red wine Lledoner Pelut is mainly produced in the wine region around Cabrières .
