The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Lodève and the canton of Clermont-l'Hérault . The inhabitants are called Nébianais .

Nébian is about 35 kilometers west of Montpellier . Nébian is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Clermont-l'Hérault in the north and northeast, Canet in the east, Aspiran in the south, Lieuran-Cabrières in the west and southwest and Villeneuvette in the west and northwest.

The A75 autoroute runs along the eastern edge of the municipality .
