Mérifons ( Occitan : Merifonts ) is a place and a municipality in the south of France with 43 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitania region (before 2016 Languedoc-Roussillon ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Lodève and the canton of Clermont-l'Hérault (until 2015 Lunas ). The inhabitants are called Mérifonois .

location

Mérifons is located about 45 kilometers west-northwest of Montpellier . The municipality is crossed by the Salagou River. Mérifons is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Octon in the north and east, Salasc in the south and southeast, Valmascle in the south, Pézènes-les-Mines in the southwest and Brenas in the west.
