Mount Newman is a 1150 m high mountain in the north of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It rises in the northeastern part of the Havre Mountains .
The British Antarctic Survey surveyed the mountain between 1975 and 1976. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1980 after the diesel generator mechanic John Newman (* 1946), who worked for the survey on Adelaide Island (1968-1969) and on Stonington Island (1969-1970 and 1972-1974) and successfully implemented snowmobiles instead of dog sled teams for the work of the survey.
