Montarnaud is a French commune with 3754 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Lodève and the canton of Gignac . It is located on the upper reaches of the Mosson River .
Montarnaud is bordered by Argelliers to the north, Vailhauquès to the east, Grabels and Saint-Georges-d'Orques to the southeast, Murviel-lès-Montpellier to the south and Saint-Paul-et-Valmalle and La-Boissière to the west .
