Scenic location of Octon

Octon is located about 60 km from the Mediterranean in the last foothills of the Massif Central in Languedoc. The village lies in a bushland with vineyards on the Lac du Salagou reservoir . This is endowed by the Salagou River , which runs along the southern municipal boundary. The landscape is characterized by the red rocks ( les ruffes ), the hills are remnants of old lava flows .
