Agonès ( Occitan agones ) is a place and a southern French community with 265 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Hérault department in the region Occitania (before 2016 Languedoc-Roussillon ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Lodève and the canton Lodève (until 2015 Ganges ). The inhabitants are called Agonésois .

location

Agonès is located about 35 kilometers north-northwest of Montpellier in the southern foothills of the Cevennes . The Hérault delimits the municipality to the east and northeast. Agonès is surrounded by the neighboring communities Laroque in the north, Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois in the south and east, Brissac in the south and west and Cazilhac in the north-west.
