Irene Shirun-Grumach
Irene Shirun-Grumach (born March 6, 1937 in Königsberg ) is an Israeli Egyptologist .
Life
Irene Shirun-Grumach, daughter of the classical philologist Ernst Grumach and his first wife Margarete Breuer, studied Egyptology from 1954 to 1959 at the Humboldt University in Berlin with Fritz Hintze . After her studies she went to the University of Basel , where in 1966 Siegfried Morenz Dr. phil. received his doctorate . In 1969 she emigrated to Israel.
From 1970 to 2001 Shirun-Grumach taught at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem . In 1980 she was appointed Senior Lecturer and in 1993 Associate Professor .
She is married to the Egyptologist Hanan Shirun .
