Yancy Gates (born October 15, 1989 in Cincinnati , Ohio , United States ) is an American basketball player . Most recently, he was under contract with Telekom Baskets Bonn in Germany .

Career

Yancy Gates plays on the position of the center . Gates received his basketball training from 2008 to 2012 at the University of Cincinnati . In the 2012 NBA draft , Gates was not drafted.

After first deployments in Lithuania and Puerto Rico, Gates moved to Israel for the 2013/14 season. There he first played for Hapoel Eilat , and in the following season for Hapoel Tel Aviv . For Tel Aviv, Gates averaged 16.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. For the 2015/16 season, Gates switched to the Israeli champion Hapoel Jerusalem . From there he was loaned to the Chinese first division club Shanxi Zhongyu .

In January 2016 it became known that Gates was moving to Telekom Baskets Bonn in Germany to replace the Tadas Klimavičius Center, which had lost due to an injury . After only six missions, in which Gates scored an average of 14.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, Telekom Baskets announced on March 6th that they would be terminating their employment relationship with Gates with immediate effect.
