The wasteland Sylvan im Weihersgrund (officially Sylvan i.Weihersgrund ) is a forester's lodge belonging to the Bischbrunn district of Fürstlich Löwensteinscher Park in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart .

geography

Silvan is surrounded by forests in the Spessart on the left bank of the Heinrichsbach in Weihersgrund and belongs as an exclave in the Fürstlich Löwensteinschen Park to the municipality of Bischbrunn. The place can be reached from the state road 2312 via various routes. In the north and east, extending height of 533 m above sea level. NHN .

history

The name Sylvan goes back to Silvanus , the Roman god of the forest. The addition to the name “im Weihersgrund” distinguishes it from the Sylvan forest house near Altenbuch .

The forester's house Sylvan was built between 1817 and 1819 as part of the fence construction for the Löwenstein Wildlife Park . In 1820, the now defunct Weihersmühle , also called Sylvanmühle, was built a little below Sylvan . According to a fire insurance certificate, in 1887 the homestead consisted of a house, a bakery and a barn.

Since 1948 there has been an inn in one part of the homestead. From 1972, the remaining part of the homestead was converted by the DAV into the Sylvan section hut . With the inauguration in 1974, the self-catering hut can be used. In 1982/83 a kitchen was added to the section hut. The homestead is still owned by the princely family.
