Villespassans ( Occitan : Vilespassens ) is a French commune with 171 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Béziers and the canton of Saint-Pons-de-Thomières (until 2015: canton of Saint-Chinian ). The inhabitants are called Villespassanais .

geography

Villespassans is located about 24 kilometers west-northwest of Béziers in the southernmost foothills of the Massif Central . The Lirou rises here . Villespassans is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Assignan in the north, Saint-Chinian in the north and northeast, Cébazan in the east, Cruzy in the south and Bize-Minervois in the west and southwest.
