Bize-Minervois is a French commune with 1,185 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aude department in the Occitanie region .
geography
Bize-Minervois is located north of Narbonne in the Cessetal . The north of the municipality is in the Minervois . Neighboring municipalities are in the north Saint-Jean-de-Minervois , Assignan and Villespassans , Cruzy , Montouliers and Argeliers in the east, Ginestas and Sainte-Valière in the south, Mailhac , Aigues-Vives and Agel in the west.
history
In the north of the municipality, Paul Tournal found the oldest known human remains at the time in the Las Fonts caves in 1827 . It has been proven that Neanderthals and Cro-Magnon humans lived in the caves. The name Bize was first mentioned around the year 1000. From the end of the 19th century, large wineries and wine castles were built.

Economy and Infrastructure
Departementale 5, which leads from Béziers to Carcassonne , is located south of the municipality . Other smaller streets lead to the neighboring communities.
Bize has a train station on the Narbonne – Bize line . This line was opened on July 4, 1887. Passenger traffic had to be stopped in 1939. Nowadays there is still sporadic freight traffic. The station building is now used as an Occitan school.
The municipality is located in the Minervois wine region. Tourism also plays an important role.
