Laroque-de-Fa is a French commune in the Aude department of the region Occitania . The Occitan name of the place is Larròca de Fan . On January 1, 2017, the place had 151 inhabitants, who are called Laroquois or Laroquoises.
location
Laroque is in the middle of the Hautes-Corbières . The municipality is located approximately in the middle of an imaginary triangle between Carcassonne (70 km in the northwest), Narbonne (63 km in the northeast) and Perpignan (66 km in the south). Laroque-de-Fa is located on the municipal road (former national road) D 613, which connects Narbonne with Ax-les-Thermes .
history
A prehistoric settlement of the area is proven by the megalithic necropolis of La Clape (8 dolmens) and the smaller dolmen Coume Jonquières. The village was built in the Middle Ages, as evidenced by the remains of buildings around the rock of La Cigale . In the 13th century the place belonged to the lords of the Château de Peyrepertuse .
