Mailhac is a French commune with 567 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aude department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement Narbonne , the canton Le Sud-Minervois and is a member of the Le Grand Narbonne municipality .
geography
Mailhac is located in the Minervois countryside , around 20 kilometers northwest of Narbonne and borders the neighboring Hérault department to the north and west . Neighboring communities are:
- Aigues-Vives in the north (Dép. Hérault),
- Bize-Minervois in the east,
- Sainte-Valière in the southeast,
- Pouzols-Minervois in the south,
- Oupia in the southwest (Dép. Hérault) and
- Aigne in the west (Dép. Hérault).
The municipality is drained by the Répudre river, which is heading south towards the Aude .
