The Narbonne – Bize railway is a French railway from Narbonne to Bize . The route was opened in 1887 by the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi . Passenger traffic was ended as early as 1939; There is still freight traffic to Mirepeisset-Argeliers.

Bize Station (2013)

On December 14, 1875, the "Déclaration d'utilité publique" was signed and the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi was commissioned to build the line. The line was opened on July 4, 1887. Passenger traffic had to be stopped on April 18, 1939. From now on only goods traffic took place. There are several companies on the route that were served by rail. Since 2005, however, only the first four kilometers to a siding of a uranium ore processing plant of the Orano Group in Narbonne-Malvési have been driven.

In November 1999, the bridge over the Aude was damaged by flooding and was repaired. The bridge was damaged again in further floods in 2005 and 2006. By November 2007, the crossing was repaired again for around 5.4 million euros, with the previous steel structure being supplemented by concrete elements at both the north and south ends. The combined clear width of all bridge elements could thus be expanded from 25 to 250 meters.

On July 1, 1983, the “Autorail touristique du Minervois” ran for the first time. This museum train ran on summer weekends until 2004.

In 2004 there were rumors that the line might be closed. Efforts are being made to re-establish regular passenger traffic on the route.
