economy
Azillanet is one of the many small wine towns in the Minervois ; several winemakers offer wine tastings ( dégustations ). Since the 1960s tourism has played a certain role in the economic life of the municipality in the form of the rental of holiday apartments ( gîtes ).
history
Little information is available on the history of Azillanet. On October 25, 1591, a battle between Catholic and Protestant troops took place in the context of the Huguenot Wars (1562–1598) in the vicinity of Azillanet and Cesseras.
Attractions

- The St-Laurent church dates from the 17th century. The church tower should be older.
- On the outskirts there are two other washhouses ( lavoirs ) from the 19th century ( Lavoir du Théron in the north and Lavoir du Tary in the south).
- The place is well suited for hiking in the area with its vineyards and stone huts made of dry stone walls ( cabanes or capitelles ).
