Cape Saunders is a cape on the north coast of South Georgia . It marks the entrance to Stromness Bay to the west .
The British navigator and explorer James Cook discovered the Cape in 1775 on his second voyage to the South Seas (1772–1775). He named it after his friend Charles Saunders (1715-1775), then First Lord of the Admiralty .
