Alain Boghossian (born October 27, 1970 in Digne-les-Bains ) is a former French national football player of Armenian descent.

Life

Boghossian began his career at Olympique de Marseille , but did not get beyond the reserve team. Therefore, he was loaned to FC Istres playing in Ligue 2 in 1992 to gain match practice. After his return in the summer of 1993, he played one more season in Marseille, but left the club after relegation.

In 1994 Boghossian moved to Serie A at SSC Napoli , who had given up a number of top performers due to financial difficulties. After relegation in 1997, he moved to league rivals Sampdoria Genoa . However, he stayed there for only one season and moved to AC Parma in 1998 . In 1999 he played in the final of the UEFA Cup against his former club Olympique Marseille and won with his team 3-0.

In 2002 Boghossian moved to the Primera División for Espanyol Barcelona . Here he came only to five missions and had to end his active career in October 2003 due to injury problems.

Boghossian was a French international . With the selection he took part in the World Championships in 1998 and 2002 and is thus one of the French world champions. He had also been nominated for the 2000 European Championship , but was injured shortly before the tournament. He played a total of 26 international matches and scored two goals.

Business life

In December 2008, he and his former teammates Bixente Lizarazu and Zinédine Zidane bought the then third division Olympique Croix de Savoie 74 (now FC Évian Thonon Gaillard ).
