The Football Club Istres Ouest Provence is a French football club from the city of Istres , in the Bouches-du-Rhône department between Marseille and Arles and therefore in the Provence region.
It was founded in 1920 as Section Sportive Istréenne . The club carried this name until 1969, when it was called Istres Sports and in 1990 it adopted its current name. The club colors are purple and black; the league team plays in the Stade Parsemain in Fos-sur-Mer , which has a capacity of 17,000 seats.
The club's president is Henry Cremades; the first team has been coached by Lionel Charbonnier since April 2010 . (As of August 2014)
League affiliation
Istres has only had professional status since 1993. First-class ( Division 1 , renamed Ligue 1 since 2002 ), the club only played in the 2004/05 season. In the 2009/10 season, Istres returned to Ligue 2 before relegation in 2014.
