Kossi Agassa (born July 2, 1978 in Lomé ) is a former Togolese football player . He was the goalkeeper of the Togolese national team at the 2006 World Cup .

Career

Kossi Agassa, who grew up in the poor district of Togo's capital Lomé, was discovered by talent scouts from the Étoile Filante de Lomé association and signed in 1997. In 2001 he moved to Africa Sports , one of the largest clubs in the Ivory Coast . At first Agassa was only a substitute goalkeeper, but when Jean-Jacques Tizié left the club, Agassa became a regular goalkeeper.

In February 2002, on the recommendation of his friend Emmanuel Adebayor , Kossi Agassa moved to Europe for FC Metz , where he was rarely used recently. For the 2006/07 season he moved to Hércules CF in Alicante in Spain, then back to France, to Stade Reims .

In the 2009/10 season he was awarded to FC Istres and has been a regular goalkeeper since his return to Reims.

For the Togolese national team, in which Agassa made his debut in 1998, he completed 70 international matches. He played a key role in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup, which was the team's greatest success to date. Kossi Agassa is very popular in his homeland. Because of his achievements, he was nicknamed Magic Hands by fans .
