Martin Fenin [ ˈmarcin ˈfɛɲin ] (born April 16, 1987 in Cheb ) is a Czech football player and game scout .

Club career

Martin Fenin started playing football at the age of seven at FK Teplice. There he made the leap into the first team in the summer of 2003 at the age of 16. In the 2003/04 season he was used five times and scored one goal. Little by little he played his way into the core formation of the North Bohemians. In the 2006/07 season he came on 28 missions and scored four goals.

On January 1, 2008, Fenin moved to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt despite offers from top European clubs such as Juventus Turin . There he signed a contract until June 30, 2012. The transfer fee was estimated at 3.5 million euros.

Fenin scored three goals in his first Bundesliga match for Eintracht Frankfurt on February 2, 2008 against Hertha BSC . He set a Bundesliga record: only Adhemar (2001), Olaf Marschall (1993), Engelbert Kraus (1964) and Hermann Ohlicher (1973) scored three goals in their first Bundesliga appearance. In the following home game on February 9, 2008 against Arminia Bielefeld, he managed another goal. In addition, both times he was elected to the “team of the day” by the kicker and was “player of the game”.

At Eintracht, Fenin was often not used by trainer Friedhelm Funkel in the center of the storm, but mainly on the left and right wing. In the first half of the 2008/09 season he was noticed as a preparer, in addition to four goals of his own, he put on six goals.

At the end of August 2011, Fenin moved to the German second division Energie Cottbus . On October 15, 2011, Fenin was hospitalized for a cerebral haemorrhage from a fall window. A few days later, he announced that he had been under the influence of alcohol and medication, had attacks of depression and that he wanted to start therapeutic treatment after his discharge from the hospital. In spring 2015 Fenin made it clear that, contrary to numerous media reports, he had never been diagnosed with depression or alcohol and pill addiction. On March 19, 2012, he was substituted for the first time after a five-month absence at the Cottbus second division game against Fortuna Düsseldorf .

On January 16, 2013 Fenin moved back to the Czech Republic to Slavia Prague . Fenin could not gain a foothold with Slavia either. From July to September 2013, the striker played five league games without scoring a goal. Then he was posted to the farm team Admira in the third division ČFL . There he scored a goal in three games. In April 2014 Fenin returned to his youth club FK Teplice as a contract amateur . In his first game he scored a goal as a substitute, in four other games he also came off the bench and remained without another hit. In the summer of 2014 he said he wanted to move abroad, but initially stayed in the squad and in July 2014 completed two top division games for Northern Bohemia. On August 13, 2014 Fenin's move to the French second division relegated FC Istres became known. In 2015 he signed a two-year contract with the German third division club Chemnitzer FC . At the beginning of 2016, the CFC announced that it was no longer planning with Fenin.

After keeping fit with his hometown club FK Teplice, he joined FC Brno (U21) in November 2016 , which he left in January 2017. He later joined FK Varnsdorf and left the club on January 1, 2018.

National team

Martin Fenin played for the Czech junior national teams U-16, U-17 , U-19 and U-20 from 2002 to 2007 . With the latter he took part in the 2007 Junior World Championship in Canada , where the Czech Republic made it to the final.

On August 22, 2007, he made his debut in a friendly against Austria in the Czech national team . He was also in the squad of the Czech national team at the 2008 European Championships , but was not used.

Further stations

In December 2016, his former teammate Maik Franz , assistant to the management of 1. FC Magdeburg , announced that Fenin would be responsible for scouting players on the Czech and Slovakian market on a voluntary basis.
