Hermann Ohlicher (born November 2, 1949 in Bräunlingen ) is a former German football player . He played 318 Bundesliga games and scored 96 goals.

Ohlicher began his professional career in 1973 at VfB Stuttgart as a striker and ended as midfield organizer and team captain in 1985 at the same club. In 1984 he was with this German champion, previously second in 1979, after he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1975 with VfB and promoted again in 1977 and had qualified for the UEFA Cup in the following season .

Career

Beginning at VfB Stuttgart

In the summer of 1973, the previous amateur player Hermann Ohlicher moved from the Upper Swabian FV Ravensburg , with whom he had recently stood in the final of the WFV Cup 1972/73 and was successful as a goalscorer in the defeat on penalties against VfL Sindelfingen during regular time , at the time the only Bundesliga club in Württemberg, VfB Stuttgart. Ohlicher played 33 games in his first season in the 1973/74 Bundesliga and scored 17 goals. In the relegation season 1974/75 he played all 34 games and came back to 17 goals. He stayed in the second division in the club. Ohlicher scored 15 goals in the 1976/77 promotion season. Ohlicher moved back to midfield in the first season after promotion to Hansi Müller's side , where he scored eleven goals. In the 1983/84 season Hermann Ohlicher u. a. at the side of Ásgeir Sigurvinsson with the VfB German champions. In the decisive game in Bremen on matchday 33, he scored the 2-1 winner in the 83rd minute. Since HSV lost to Frankfurt at the same time, VfB was back at the top for the first time since 1952.

European Cup

In his very first season, Hermann Ohlicher played with VfB Stuttgart in the 1973/74 UEFA Cup . After victories over Nicosia , Tatran Prešov , Dynamo Kiev and Vitória Setúbal , they reached the semi-finals, where VfB was eliminated against the eventual winner Feyenoord Rotterdam . Ohlicher scored seven goals in nine games. In the 1978/79 season Hermann Ohlicher scored on November 22, 1978 in the third round of the UEFA Cup against Dukla Prague 4-1, the fourth goal, Stuttgart lost the second leg in Prague 4-0 and was eliminated. In the following European Cup season Ohlicher even reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup again with VfB , where they failed in the German duel against Borussia Mönchengladbach . After winning the championship in 1984, he took part with Stuttgart in the European Cup in 1984/85 and failed in the first round at Levski Sofia .

Life after a professional career

In the summer of 1985, Hermann Ohlicher ended his career at VfB Stuttgart. With his 318 Bundesliga games and 96 goals as well as 72 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and 30 goals, he is one of the most important players at VfB Stuttgart.

Today he lives with his wife Erika and children in Esslingen, where he last worked in a leading position at a Toto Lotto company. He plays golf regularly and has a handicap of 3.5.

Ohlicher became a member of the honorary council of VfB Stuttgart in 2010 and took over the chairmanship of the committee in 2014 until he was elected to the supervisory board of VfB on October 9, 2016.
