Hans Peter "Hansi" Müller (* 27. July 1957 in Stuttgart ) is a former German football player and current football functionary . As a player he was active for VfB Stuttgart , Inter Milan , Calcio Como and FC Swarovski Tirol . For Germany he made 42 international matches and 5 goals and won the European Championship in 1980 . From 1999 to 2001 he was a board member of VfB Stuttgart, since July 2007 he has been an honorary member there and was a member of the supervisory board from 2011 to 2015.

Player career

Hans Müller attended the Eschbach high school in the Freiberg district of Stuttgart . He began his career at SV Rot in Stuttgart and joined the youth team at VfB Stuttgart in the winter of 1970/71 at the latest . In the 1974/75 season he was German A youth champion . For VfB, he played in the 2nd Bundesliga South from 1975 to 1977 and then in the 1st Bundesliga until 1982 , 1982 to 1984 for Inter Milan , 1984/85 for Calcio Como and from 1985 until his career ended in 1990 for the FC Wacker Innsbruck and FC Swarovski Tirol .

In the German national team he played 42 games (5 goals) from 1978 to 1983, took part in the 1978 soccer world championship and became European soccer champion in 1980 and vice world champion in 1982 .

For winning the European football championship in 1980 he was awarded the silver laurel leaf by Federal President Carstens.

The highlight of his time in Innsbruck was, in addition to two championship titles and a cup victory, reaching the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 1986/87 (he put this success on a par with the European title in 1980).

On his 50th birthday on July 27, 2007, he organized the revenge of the 1982 World Cup final between the national teams of Italy and Germany (game outcome 3-1 at the time), which took place in front of over 40,000 spectators in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart . In addition to many participants in the final at that time, such as Karl-Heinz Rummenigge , Horst Hrubesch , Bernd and Karlheinz Förster , Claudio Gentile and Paolo Rossi , the guest stars Michael Schumacher and Eros Ramazzotti also took part. The game ended in a 4-4 draw.

After his active career, he started giving lectures on football , business and success . He also founded a company that deals with the marketing of official football fan labels.

Positions as a football official

In September 1999, Hansi Müller became a member of the board of VfB Stuttgart as director for marketing and public relations. It was built up by the VfB supervisory board chairman Heinz Bandke as a counterweight to the club president Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder and the executive board member Ulrich Schäfer . Together with his board colleague Karlheinz Förster and the supervisory board, Müller was able to prevail in the summer of 2000 against Mayer-Vorfelder, who left office and wanted to take even more financial risks instead of building up a young team. After the VfB sports director Karlheinz Förster resigned in January 2001 due to a dispute over competence, Müller, who was accused of wanting to inherit Förster, came under pressure himself and resigned a week later.

Müller was ambassador for the 2006 soccer world championship for the World Cup city of Stuttgart and ambassador for the host city of Innsbruck for the 2008 European soccer championship .

On July 17, 2011, Hansi Müller was elected to the supervisory board of the association at the general meeting of VfB Stuttgart . At the beginning of May 2015, he resigned from his position because of an indiscretion about filling the club's head coach position.

Local politics

In the municipal elections in Baden-Württemberg on May 25, 2014, Müller was elected to the Korb municipal council for the CDU / FW .
