Caspar Josef Memering (born June 1, 1953 in Bockhorst ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

In his youth, Memering played at DJK Bockhorst and briefly at Werder Bremen . His profession, which he learned from 1970 to 1973, is a retail salesman . Between 1971 and 1986 he played 320 games for Hamburger SV and FC Schalke 04 . From 1982 to 1984 he played together with Gernot Rohr and Dieter Müller in the French first division at Girondins Bordeaux , where he became French champion in 1984 ; Due to a joint disease he had to take a break for almost twelve months and only made 27 league games and six European Cup appearances in the two years. At the end of his career he returned to the Bundesliga for FC Schalke 04.

With HSV, he was 1976 German Cup winner 1977 European Cup Winners Cup Winners' Cup and 1979 and 1982 German Champion .

In the national team, he made three international matches in 1979 and 1980 . In 1980 he was with the German national team at the European Football Championship in Italy , but was only used in the last group game of the preliminary round against Greece .

For winning the European football championship, he was awarded the silver laurel leaf by Federal President Karl Carstens in 1980.

In 1997 Memering made his diploma as a soccer teacher at the Sport University Cologne in a year with Bernd Schuster , Frank Neubarth , Wolfgang Wolf and Friedhelm Funkel . From January 2006 he coached the district division TuRa 07 Westrhauderfehn in East Friesland for four and a half years . From July 1, 2010, he coached SV Bösel , from which he resigned in April 2011 for health reasons.
