Career

As a player

Michelangelo Rampulla began his career with the club in his hometown, Pattese. He then played for Cesena , Varese and Cremonese .

On February 23, 1992, in the 1-1 draw against Atalanta Bergamo , Rampulla went down in history. He succeeded as the first goalkeeper in the history of Serie A to score a goal from the game. His team, the US Cremonese, were 0-1 behind, Rampulla ran to a corner in stoppage time, headed the corner kick from a short distance into the goal and gave his team another point, which the Lombard club at the end of the season but not before the descent into Serie B could save.

In the summer of 1992 Michelangelo Rampulla moved to Juventus Turin . In the following years he was always number two behind the regular goalkeepers like Angelo Peruzzi , Edwin van der Sar or Gianluigi Buffon and was often referred to as a "fan on the bench" . During this time he was able to celebrate great successes with Juve both at national and international level.

In 2002 Michelangelo Rampulla ended his playing career.

As a trainer

After the end of his active career in 2002, Rampulla worked as a goalkeeper coach and responsible for the goalkeepers of the youth department at Juventus Turin until summer 2009. When his former team-mate Ciro Ferrara replaced Claudio Ranieri as coach at the old lady in May 2009 , he took him on as a goalkeeping coach in his supervisory staff.
