Medhi Amine Benatia El Mouttaqi (first name also in the spelling Mehdi , Arabic مهدي أمين بن عطية المتقي, DMG Mahdī Amīn bin ʿAṭṭīya al-Muttaqī ; Born April 17, 1987 in Courcouronnes , France ) is a Moroccan football player who also has French citizenship .

The center- back is under contract with al-Duhail SC and was the captain of the Moroccan national team .

Career

Benatia was born in Courcouronnes, France; his father is Moroccan and his mother is from Algeria . He was trained up to the age of 15 at the Center technique national Fernand-Sastre , the center of excellence of the French Football Association , and then spent one year in the youth department of EA Guingamp and three years in that of Olympique Marseille .

Clubs in France

As an 18-year-old, he moved up to the professional team at Olympique Marseille in 2005, but remained without a league game in the first season.
