Career

society

Leonardo Bonucci started his career in the youth of Inter Milan . In 2005 he was included in the senior squad of Milan and debuted on May 14, 2006 in the match against Cagliari Calcio in Serie A . After he was not used in the professional team at Inter in the following two years, those responsible for the club awarded him to the Serie B club FBC Treviso . In Treviso he was able to establish himself as a regular player and received many missions. On February 2, 2009 he was awarded to the AC Pisa . By the end of the 2008/09 season he played 18 league games for Pisa, but could not prevent the team's relegation.

At the beginning of July 2009 Bonucci moved to CFC Genoa as part of the transfer from Thiago Motta , who was moving to the Milanese . Shortly afterwards, AS Bari announced the purchase of half of Bonucci's transfer rights and thus the commitment of the defender. In Bari he immediately established himself as a regular player under coach Gian Piero Ventura and played all 38 Serie A games in the 2009/10 season . Bonucci reached with the Apulians with 50 points more points than ever before in the club's Serie A history and finished the season with the team in tenth place in the table.

In June 2010, the joint venture was liquidated for eight million euros in favor of Bari. On July 1, 2010, the Italian record champions Juventus Turin announced the commitment of the defender for 15.5 million euros. Bonucci signed a five-year contract with the Turinese.

For the 2017/18 season , Bonucci was signed by league rivals AC Milan for around 42 million euros . In mid-July 2017, he signed a contract until 2022.

For the season 2018/19 Bonucci returned to Juventus. The transfer was part of a swap deal with Mattia Caldara , in which both transfer fees were set at 35 million euros. Bonucci signed a contract with a term until June 30, 2023, which was extended early in November 2019 to 2024.

National team

Leonardo Bonucci made his debut on March 3, 2010 in a 0-0 draw against Cameroon under Marcello Lippi for the Italian national team . He played his second international match three months later in a friendly against Mexico . In the 1: 2 defeat, he scored his first goal for the Squadra Azzurra .

Leonardo Bonucci was part of the Italian selection at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa , but was not used in the tournament and was eliminated from the group with the Azzurri in the preliminary round. At the EM 2012 Bonucci was a regular under Cesare Prandelli and was also on the field from the start in the 0: 4 final defeat against Spain .

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included as a regular player in the Italian squad . Only he and Andrea Barzagli were used in all five games in the tournament. He played all the games over the full playing time. In the opening game against Belgium, he gave the template for the 1-0 lead. In the quarter-finals against Germany, he converted a hand penalty in regular time and thus managed to equalize 1-1, but in the final penalty shoot-out he missed. In the end, the team lost 5-6 on penalties and was eliminated.

Others

On October 18, 2012, Bonucci was ambushed by a robber outside a car dealership in Turin . This threatened him with a gun and demanded the national player's watch. Bonucci then knocked the masked man down with a punch and he fled. After Bonucci's wife locked themselves in the car with their son, he pursued the man and an accomplice , even though the main culprit threatened to shoot him. Ultimately, the two men escaped on a scooter and Bonucci filed a complaint .

In April 2019 Bonucci's teammate Moise Kean was racially insulted several times in an away game against Cagliari Calcio . Bonucci subsequently sparked controversy when he stated that Kean himself was 50 percent complicit in the insults. He later retracted his statement and unconditionally opposed racism.
