Associazione Italiana Calciatori
The Associazione Italiana Calciatori (known as AIC ) is an Italian football players association. It was founded on July 3, 1968 by a group of football players consisting of Giacomo Bulgarelli , Sandro Mazzola , Gianni Rivera , Ernesto Càstano , Giancarlo De Sisti , Giacomo Losi , Carlo Mupo , Giorgio Sereni , Gianni Corelli and Sergio Campana .
Initially, the AIC only represented Serie A and Serie B players . At the beginning of the 1970s, the players from Serie C and Serie D , the so-called amateur players, were also integrated. The AIC publishes a list of non-club members who belong to the association.
Since 1997, the association has awarded the Oscar del Calcio every year , in which the best players of the year are chosen. Among other things, the football coach of the year , young player of the year and foreign player of the year are chosen. In addition, the AIC campaigns against racism.
Another concern of the AIC is the player's rights; H. the payment, measures against injuries and the safety in the stadiums. In addition, Campana criticized the lavish club policy of the club presidents and the excessive indebtedness of the Serie A clubs as early as 1994 .

The seat of the association is in the Venetian city of Vicenza , the current president of the AIC is Damiano Tommasi.
