Giancarlo De Sisti (born March 13, 1943 in Rome ), called Picchio (in German: Specht ), is a former Italian football player ( midfielder ) and coach .
Career
De Sistis career began in his hometown at AS Roma in Serie A with the season 1960/61 . After five seasons (with 87 games and 13 goals and winning the Coppa Italia in 1964), he moved to Fiorentina in 1965 .
At Fiorentina he experienced the zenith of his career from 1965 to 1974. He became team captain there and achieved his greatest successes by winning the Coppa Italia in 1965/66 and the Scudetto in 1968/69 . In total, he completed 255 games for Fiorentina in the course of which he scored 28 goals.
With the 1974/75 season he returned to Roma , where he completed 135 games with nine goals. There he ended his active career with the 1978/79 season.
With the Italian national team De Sisti was European champion in 1968 . In 1970 he was a World Cup finalist and previously involved in the game of the century , the semi-final won 4: 3 after Germany against Germany . In total, he was called up to the national team 29 times and scored four goals for the Squadra Azzurra .
A coaching career embarked on after his active career (including 1980–1984 at Fiorentina) was not a good star, but was overshadowed by serious health problems. Due to his illness, he had to end the good work he had done at Fiorentina early in 1984.
Most recently, De Sisti made a name for itself in the media in connection with the soccer scandal in 2006. Since he criticized the " Moggi System " years ago , his coaching career had ended and he hadn't got another job, De Sisti told media representatives.
