Aristide Guarneri (born March 7, 1938 in Cremona ) is a former Italian football player .

Career

In the club

Aristide Guarneri began his career at Como Calcio , from where he moved to Inter Milan after a year . The defender celebrated his greatest successes at Inter. He became Italian champion in 1963, 1965 and 1966 and Italian cup winner in 1964 and 1965. He also won the European Cup in 1964 and 1965 with the Nerazurri , as well as the World Cup in 1964 and 1965. Guarneri was part of the team that was called La Grande Inter . In 1967 he moved to FC Bologna . Then came the return to Milan via the intermediate station SSC Naples . After only one year in San Siro , he let his active club career at the US Cremonese end.

In the national team

Guarneri made his debut in the Squadra Azzurra in 1963 against Brazil . His international career was marked by great success. At his first World Cup in England in 1966 , he was eliminated in the group stage, but the same national team won the European Championship two years later under Ferruccio Valcareggi in their own country. After this title, Guarneri ended his national team career.
