Giorgio Ferrini (born August 18, 1939 in Trieste , † November 8, 1976 in Turin ) was an Italian football player .

Club career

Giorgio Ferrini began his professional career at Varese FC in Serie C , to which he was loaned from his home club AC Turin in 1958/59 . In 1959 he returned to Toro and made promotion to Serie A with the club in the 1959/60 season . Ferrini stayed until the end of his career in 1975, the Turin club, for which he completed a total of 443 games and scored 42 goals, loyal. In 1968 and 1971 he won the Coppa Italia with AC Turin .

International career

Internationally, Giorgio Ferrini played seven times for Italy . He took part in the 1962 World Cup in Chile , where he was eliminated with the Squadra Azzurra in the group stage as third. Ferrini gained notoriety when he in the group game against hosts Chile , which as Battle of Santiago , went down in football history as early as the sixth minute a sending- received, refused but ten minutes to leave the field until he by police was led from the square.
