Angelo Domenghini (born August 25, 1941 in Lallio ) is a former Italian football player and coach .

Career

The striker Domenghini began his professional career in 1961 with Atalanta Bergamo . In 1964 he moved to Inter Milan , where he became the Italian international . He was part of the Italian team that won the European Football Championship in 1968 . In 1969 he moved to the Sardinian club Cagliari Calcio , where he replaced Roberto Boninsegna, who had moved to Inter . In the national team he played with his club mates Luigi Riva and Boninsegna at the football World Cup in 1970 , where he scored the only goal for Italy in the preliminary round in a 1-0 win over Sweden . Nevertheless, the team became group winners and after the match of the century against Germany reached the final, which was lost to Brazil 1: 4.

In 1973 he left Cagliari and went to AS Roma . The successful times were over for Domenghini. He only played one season for the capital city and moved on to Hellas Verona . After 1976 he only played for lower-class clubs and ended his career in 1979.
