Luciano Moggi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luciano Moggi (born July 10, 1937 in Monticiano , Tuscany ) is an Italian football manager and player agent .

As the manager of Juventus Turin , he has been defined by the Italian media as the central figure of the Italian football scandal in 2006 . In the wake of the scandal, Moggi resigned from his position as manager at Juventus on May 16, 2006 with immediate effect. In the first instance judgments of July 14, 2006, Moggi was sentenced to five years of professional bans, and he should also be prosecuted. In June 2011 the disciplinary commission of the Italian football association FIGC imposed a lifelong ban on Moggi, and his appeal was rejected.

Before entering the football business as a players' agent in the mid-1970s, Luciano Moggi had been a railroad employee for two decades. Thanks to his employment with the state railway, he was able to travel very cheaply by train. He used this to reach all possible places in the Lazio region and southern Tuscany by train in order to watch as many games by junior teams as possible. His main interest was of course talented players, whom he observed several times and created a separate file for each player. Also because of his almost 40 years of experience in football, he is considered one of the greatest football connoisseurs.

Since the late 1970s, he has been the manager of various Italian clubs, namely AS Roma , Lazio Rome , Naples and the two Turin clubs AC and Juventus, most recently with Juventus since 1994.
