Daniele Rugani (born July 29, 1994 in Lucca ) is an Italian football player . The defender is currently under contract with Juventus Turin .
Career
In the club
Rugani began his football career in 2000 in the youth department of FC Empoli , one of the largest football clubs in Tuscany . He went through all youth teams until 2012, before Juventus Turin noticed the young defender and loaned him to his youth department for a year. After continuing to perform well in the Primavera team, Juventus bought half of Rugani's transfer rights in the summer of 2013. However, in order to give him match practice that he would not have received on the Juventus defense, he has been playing for the co-owner and his home club Empoli since 2013. In his first professional season, the Series B - season 2013/14 , he completed 40 games in which he scored two goals. As a regular player, he was able to finish the season in second place and thus associated rise in along with the team's Serie A celebrate.
On August 31, 2014, Rugani came to his first Serie A appearance in the 2-0 loss to Udinese Calcio . Three weeks later, on matchday three, he scored his first Serie A goal in a 2-2 draw against AC Cesena .
In the national team
Rugani was appointed to Italy's U-17 team in 2010 and played twelve games with two goals within a year. This was followed by assignments in the U-18 , U-19 and U-20 teams . Rugani has been part of the U-21 national team since 2014 , for whom he played in the two European Championship qualifiers against Serbia and Cyprus , in the latter he also scored the 7-1 final score.
On October 4, 2014 Rugani was appointed by national coach Antonio Conte for the first time in the squad of the Italian national team for the two European Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Malta . He was also in the provisional Italy squad for the European Football Championship in 2016 , but was not nominated for the tournament. Rugani made his international debut on September 1, 2016 in a friendly against France . Since then, Rugani has been a regular part of the squad and was mostly used in friendly matches. He played his seventh and so far last international match against the Netherlands in June 2018 . Rugani was last nominated in November 2018 and has not been considered since then.
