Al-Ahli Sports Club ( Arabic الأهلي) is a sports club from Doha in Qatar . The men's soccer team plays in the Qatar Stars League . The team plays their home games at the Al-Ahly Stadium . Founded in 1950, the association is one of the oldest in Qatar. Nevertheless, the football team has never been able to celebrate a championship since the club was founded. Al-Ahli could be better described as a cup team, as they have already played nine times in the final of the Emir of Qatar Cupreached and won it four times. The best placement in the first division in the 2000s was a fourth place in the 2003/04 season. At the end of the 2006/07 season, the team was relegated to the second division. The direct resurgence in the following year was missed by two points. In the summer of 2009, the promotion to the first division took place. After being able to secure relegation with a tenth place in the 2009/10 season, the 2010/11 season was completed in twelfth and last place in the table. Since eleventh al-Sailiya was tied with Al-Ahli, a decider was played to decide who was relegated and who had to go into relegation. Al-Ahli won this game and the relegation game against Al-Shamal SC and thus managed to stay in the league. In the 2011/12 season they finished twelfth again and will play in the Qatari second division again from the 2012/13 season.
