The Al-Sadd Sports Club ( Arabic نادي السد الرياضي, DMG Nādī s-Sadd ar-riyāḍī ) is a sports club from Doha , the capital of Qatar . The club, nicknamed White Shirts , was founded by students on October 21, 1969 and is one of the most successful in the country. The men's soccer team plays in the country's highest league, the Qatar Stars League . With twelve championships and twelve cup victories won, the football section is both record champions and record cup winners in the country. The greatest international success was winning the AFC Champions Leaguein 1989 and 2011. So far, the al-Sadd SC football team is the only Qatar team that has won this title. In December 2011, al-Sadd finished third at the FIFA Club World Cup .

Stadion

The game will be played in the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium . This seats 15,000 spectators including the VIP areas and is fully air-conditioned.

Other sports

In addition to the football section, handball , basketball , volleyball , table tennis and athletics are also played in the club . In 2002 the handball section became club world champions .
