Firas Al Khatib ( Arabic فراس الخطيب, DMG Firās al-Ḫaṭīb , born June 9, 1983 in Homs ) is a Syrian football player . He is currently under contract with Al Qadsia in the Kuwaiti Premier League .

Career

Al Khatib enjoys a high reputation for its many goals in the Arab world and above all in its home country Syria and the Gulf States.

Al Khatib began his professional career in the Syrian Premier League with Al-Karama in the 2000/2001 season. On October 6, 2000 at the age of 17, he scored his first goal in the Syrian Premier League in the game against Al-Futowa , which ended 1-1. In August 2002 he moved to the Kuwaiti Premier League for Al Nasr . In the following 2003 season, the Kuwaiti top club Al-Arabi signed him . There he had by far his most successful time and scored 133 goals within 6 seasons. In the 2005 season he was loaned from the Qatari club Al-Ahli for half a year.

On August 24, 2009 he signed a contract with the Kuwaiti association Al-Qadsia . In the first five games of the season for his club, he scored five times.

National team

Al Khatib has been a member and current captain of the Syrian national team since 2001 . He scored his first goal in 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifying at the age of 17 against Laos.
