Luka Bonačić ([ lûːka bɔ̌natʃitɕ ]; born March 2, 1955 in Split , Yugoslavia , now Croatia ) is a former Yugoslav football player and today's coach . Among other things, he played for VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga .
Career
Player career
youth
Bonačić was born on March 2, 1955 in Split . He started his football career in the Split Football Academy. He joined the youth of Hajduk Split in 1969 at the age of 14.
Professional career
Luka Bonačić signed a contract with Hajduk Split as early as 1971 . In four years he played 45 games and scored eight goals. In 1974 he moved to Switzerland to the Grasshopper Club Zurich, where he made 13 games and scored 5 goals in the 1974/75 season and ended up third with the club. In 1976 he moved to NK Maribor , where he played for two years. In 1979 he moved to VfL Bochum , where he was never able to assert himself and in 1980 he moved to the Spanish league for CD Málaga . In 1981 he moved to Australia , where he ended his career with the Melbourne Knights in 1986 .
Coaching career
He spent most of his coaching career in Croatia , the former Yugoslavia , and Iran .
After retiring, he took over Central United FC in 1988 , before Bonačić returned to Yugoslavia in 1991 and coached various clubs, including Hajduk Split from 1997 to 1998. In 2003 he went to Iran , where he coached Foolad Ahvaz and Esteghlal Ahvaz . In 2005 he took over the Albanian first division club KS Dinamo Tirana , and in 2006 Luka Bonačić returned to Croatia and trained as in the 1997/98 season Hajduk Split. But in the same year he went back to Iran and was coach of Sepahan Isfahan . Two years later he went to Dubai for Al-Nasr SC . After briefly returning to Foolad Ahvaz, Bonačić trained Mes Kerman until 2010 . Most recently he was the coach of Sepahan Isfahan.
