Esteghlal Ahvaz is an Iranian football club from Ahvaz .
history
Esteghlal Ahvaz was founded in 1948 as a branch from Taj Tehran . The founding name was therefore Taj Ahvaz . Taj Ahvaz could not be promoted to the top Iranian league because the regulations did not allow two clubs with the same name.
Only after the Iran-Iraq war was the club allowed to play in the top Iranian league, at that time the Azadegan League , in the 1991/92 season, despite overlapping names . In the 1996/97 season, the club rose and only in the 2001/02 season was promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League .
The club has not yet won any national / international titles.
The 2014/15 season ended Esteghlal Ahvaz in Group A of the second-rate Azadegan League in ninth place. However, since the first-placed Foolad Novin was not eligible for promotion, Ahvaz succeeded in replacing the renewed promotion to the Persian Gulf Pro League.
