Rahman Rezaei ( Persian رحمان رضایی; * February 20, 1975 in Nūr ) is an Iranian former football player .
Career
Rahman Rezaei began his professional career with Zob Ahan Isfahan . After five convincing seasons in the top Iranian league and good appearances in the dress of the national team , he moved abroad to AC Perugia in the Italian Serie A for the 2001/02 season . He stayed there for two seasons until he was drawn to FC Messina for the 2003/04 season . In his first season at Messina he was promoted to Serie A. After three successful seasons, he moved to AS Livorno for the 2006/07 season , where he was only used irregularly.
He made his national team debut in 2001 against the selection of Bosnia-Herzegovina . He was a key player in Iran at the 2006 World Cup , but he couldn't fulfill the hope that was placed in him. Rather, Rezaei received criticism for his mistakes, which often led to goals conceded. In April 2007 he announced his retirement from the national team after the disappointing 2007 Asian Cup . In December 2007 Rezaei announced his resignation and will take part with his country in the qualification for the 2010 World Cup. He has played 56 caps for Iran so far , scoring three goals.
Rahman Rezaei will play for Persepolis Tehran in the 2008/2009 season .
