Zob Ahan Isfahan ( Persian باشگاه فوتبال ذوب آهن) is an Iranian football club from Isfahan .
history
In 1969 the Zob Ahan Football Club was founded by Mohammad Ali Taghizadeh Farahmand. The local steel group Esfahan Steel Company is the owner and main sponsor of the association . Zob Ahan has been considered the rich club of Isfahan since it was founded . The football club immediately signed 14 players from local rivals Sepahan Isfahan , who formed the framework of the first team. In the 1973/1974 season, the club played for the first time in the top Iranian league ( Takhte Jamshid Cup ). With the exception of the 1994/1995 season, Zob Ahan was always top notch.
The club celebrated its greatest successes in the national cup competition, the Hazfi Cup , which it won in 2003 and 2009. In the championship , Zob Ahan finished second in the 2008/09 season, tied with champion Esteghlal Tehran . The club achieved its greatest international success in 2010 when it reached the final of the Asian Champions League , which was lost to South Korean representative Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma .
