history
In 1989 the Iranian automobile manufacturer SAIPA decided to found its own football club. A team from the fourth Tehran league was bought up and made it through to the second regional league when the license of another team was bought to get into the first Tehran league. There they won the Tehran Championship and the Tehran Super Cup straight away and qualified for the Azadegan League , the top division of Iran at the time.
In the seasons 1993/94 and 1994/95 Saipa Tehran won the Iranian championship , but rose in the 1995/96 season. The club managed to get promoted immediately, but had to wait until the 2006/07 season for another major success. In that season, the club signed Ali Daei as head coach and promptly became Iranian champions .
