The Sanat Naft Football Club ( Persian باشگاه فوتبال صنعت نفت آبادان) is an Iranian football club from Abadan .
history
The Club Sanat Naft Abadan ( Persian باشگاه فوتبال صنعت نفت آبادان) was founded in 1972. The owner and main sponsor of the association is the Abadan City Oil Refinery ( SNAC ).
Sanat Naft is one of the most popular football clubs in Iran . The club played a technically demanding and respectable football in the 1970s , with the technical and tactical orientation corresponding to a Brazilian style of play. The admiration for the Brazilian national team of the 1970s was so great that the board adjusted the team colors to those of the Brazilian selection : yellow jerseys, blue shorts and white socks. It wasn't long before the club was nicknamed Iran's Brazil ( Persian برزیل ایران) received.
The club played throughout the 1970s in the top Iranian league, the Takhte Jamshid Cup . Sanat Naft did not win a national title, but the team also delighted opposing fans with their offensive Brazilian style of play.
Due to the Islamic Revolution , the Iran-Iraq war and the massive bombing of the city of Abadan, interest in football waned. Sanat Naft moved to Shiraz in the 1980s . The team had barely arrived in the capital of the province of Fars when they rose from the third division to the top division in a hurry . After the end of the Iran-Iraq war , the club returned to Abadan.
Sanat Naft made it into the IPL in the 2001/2002 season , where he finished 13th in the table at the end of the 2002/2003 season and relegated back to the second division, the Azadegan League . The team only rose again in the 2007/2008 season in the IPL .
In the past 2007/2008 season , the club was seventh in the table and was relegated again. The reason for the relegation were the poor results under coach Ebrahim Ghasempour.
Sanat Naft has not yet won any national / international title.
