Paykan Tehran ( Persian پيکان تهران) is an Iranian football club from the capital Tehran . The football club is a division of Paykan Sport Club - other divisions include basketball , volleyball and handball .
history
In 1967 the club was founded by Mahmoud Khayami. The club has been owned and sponsored by the Iranian car manufacturer Iran Khodro Co. since it was founded . Between 1967 and 1970 the club was able to sign well-known players from local rivals Persepolis Tehran due to its good financial situation . a. the Iranian football legend Ali Parvin . In the 1969/1970 season, the club dissolved after some important players returned to Persepolis Tehran after quarrels with the club's management and team management . By 2000, the Paykan Sport Club renounced its soccer division. In the 2000/2001 season, Iran Khodro Co. acquired the Azadegan League license from FC Bahman Karadsch , which was the highest Iranian league at the time . Although the club has not yet won any national / international titles, it is a well-known address for talented domestic and foreign players due to its solid financial situation and well-organized club structures.
In the 2009/10 season, Paykan Tehran finished eleventh in the IPL. The 2010/11 season ended the club in penultimate place and relegated to the Azadegan League . After a temporary resurgence, relegation followed after the 2014/15 season.
