Emiliano Moretti (born June 11, 1981 in Rome ) is an Italian football player .

Since 2013, the stands full-back at the Italian first division club FC Turin under contract.

Career

Moretti had his first experiences with football at the age of five. At the age of eight, he was named best defender at a national tournament in Ferrara . In his youth he won many tournaments, such as B. an international Nike tournament. Moretti began his professional football career in 2001 with the Italian first division club Fiorentina . He played his first game on March 31, 2001 in a 1-1 draw against Vicenza Calcio . In his first season 2000/01 he was used a total of nine times. 2001/02 he already played 27 games in Serie A and was able to score one goal. He also played six UEFA Cup games with Fiorentina .

In the following season he moved to AC Parma for 1.8 million euros , but they immediately loaned him to Bologna FC . There he became a regular player, played in 32 of the 34 championship games and was only substituted four times.

In summer 2004, Emiliano Moretti moved to Spain for Valencia . On September 18, 2004, he made his debut in the Primera División in a 3-1 win against Real Sociedad San Sebastián . He scored his first goal for Valencia CF that same year (November 28), on matchday 13 against RCD Mallorca (2-0). After a rather average team performance, Moretti reached only seventh place with Valencia in the 2004/05 season . He played all six Valencia games in the UI Cup and scored a goal on July 27, three minutes after being substituted on by Roda Kerkrade (4-0). In the 2005/06 season he was under coach Quique Sánchez Flores a regular player in the defense of Valencia CF and played 33 of the 38 championship games. He was also used regularly in the three following seasons.

In the summer of 2009 Emiliano Moretti moved back to Serie A at CFC Genoa . He has been under contract with FC Turin since 2013 .

National team

In 1996 Emiliano Moretti was appointed to the Italian U-16 national team at the age of 16 and took part in the U-16 European Championship in Germany in 1997 , in which Italy only failed in the final. Moretti took part with the Italian U-21 team at the U-21 European Championship 2004 in Germany and won the title with his team. He has a total of 24 missions for the U-21 team. In addition, the defender of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens made five appearances for Italy's Olympic selection and was thus involved in the bronze medal of Italy.

In 2014, at the age of 33, Moretti was nominated for the first time for the national team and made his international debut in a 1-0 win in the friendly against Albania .
