Vanja Milinković-Savić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Вања Миликовић-Савић ; born February 20, 1997 in Ourense , Spain ) is a Serbian football goalkeeper .

family

His father Nikola Milinković (* 1968) is a former soccer player and today's coach. His brother Sergej (* 1995) is also a soccer player. Vanja was in Spanish Ourense born while his father while CD Ourense was active.

Career

In the club

From November 2004 to summer 2006 Milinković-Savić played as a field player in the youth of the Grazer AK in Austria and then moved to Serbia to FK Vojvodina , where he went through the remaining youth stations. In April 2014, Milinković-Savić signed his first professional contract. In August 2014, Manchester United acquired the transfer rights to Milinković-Savić; However, he remained in the 2014/15 season on loan at FK Vojvodina, for which he came to 17 league appearances this season.

Milinković-Savić was supposed to start his work at Manchester United for the 2015/16 season, but as a non-EU citizen was not given a work permit in the United Kingdom . He lived in Belgrade and kept fit at various clubs. At the end of November 2015, he terminated his contract and immediately joined the Polish first division club Lechia Gdańsk , for which he was eligible to play from January 2016. He made his debut on March 6, 2016, the 26th matchday. In this 5-1 home win against Jagiellonia Białystok , he played for the entire season. By the summer of 2017 he had played 29 league games for Lechia Gdańsk.

For the 2017/18 season , Milinković-Savić moved to the Italian Serie A for Turin . After playing three times in the Coppa Italia , he made his debut on the last matchday in Serie A. At the beginning of the 2018/19 season he was loaned to SPAL Ferrara . This club also plays in Serie A. The loan ended at the end of January 2019.

For the second half of the season Milinković-Savić was awarded to Ascoli Calcio in Serie B, the second highest Italian league. For the 2019/20 season, he was loaned to the Belgian first division company Standard Liège with a subsequent purchase option. There was in the first half of the season in three Europa League games in goal. In the first division , he was often a member of the matchday squad, but had not yet actually played. The loan was not extended at the end of the 2019/20 season.

In the national team

Milinković-Savić went through all Serbian junior teams. With the U-19s, he reached the semi-finals of the U-19 European Football Championship in 2014 , but was not used. A year later he was part of the squad that won the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand. He played with the U21s at the 2017 U-21 European Football Championship , where he played two games in the group stage.
