Fabio Liverani (born April 29, 1976 in Rome , Italy ) is a former Italian soccer player and today's soccer coach . He has been the head coach of Parma Calcio since 2020 .
Player career
In the club
Fabio Liverani started his career at Nocerina Calcio ; for the 1996/97 season he moved to AS Viterbese Calcio . In its third season at Viterbese, the club rose to Serie C1 . For the 2000/01 season Liverani moved to Serie A club AC Perugia . During the 2001/02 season he moved to league rivals Lazio . As a result, Liverani became one of the top performers and won the Coppa Italia in 2004 . For the 2006/07 season he moved to Fiorentina . After two years he went to US Palermo for three years in 2008 .
In the summer of 2011 Liverani left Sicily and moved to FC Lugano in the Swiss Challenge League , in which he was no longer used and ended his active career.
In the national team
For the Italian national team Liverani played three international games from 2001 to 2006, his first on April 25, 2001 under Giovanni Trapattoni in a 1-0 win against South Africa . Thus, he was the first Italian of African descent to complete an international match for the Squadra Azzurra .

Coaching career
In November 2011 Fabio Liverani became youth coach at CFC Genoa . In July 2013 he was officially introduced as the club's professional team coach, succeeding Davide Ballardini . Liverani has been the head coach of US Lecce since 2017 . For the season season 2019/20 promotion to the successful Serie A .
