Alberto Zaccheroni [alˈbɛrto dzakkeˈroːni] (born April 1, 1953 in Meldola , Emilia-Romagna ) is an Italian football coach . Zaccheroni is known for his tactical 3-4-3 system.

Career

Alberto Zaccheroni's footballing career was relatively short. At the age of 30 he switched to the coaching business. He started his career at Cosenza . He then trained in Riccione , San Lazzaro, Baracca, Venezia and Bologna FC before returning to Cosenza.

His first major success was promotion to Serie A with Udinese Calcio (1997/98). Zaccheroni led the club to third place in Serie A and so Udinese qualified for the UEFA Cup . Zaccheroni's great successes at Udinese caught the attention of AC Milan , who hired him as a coach in the summer of 1998. With him, Oliver Bierhoff also moved from Friuli to the capital of Lombardy . 2001 Zaccheroni was replaced at Milan by Cesare Maldini .

A few months later Alberto Zaccheroni stepped in for Dino Zoff at Lazio. After many defeats, such as against city rivals AS Roma (1: 5), he was replaced by Roberto Mancini .

From September 7, 2006, Zaccheroni coached Turin FC . On February 26, 2007, after seven defeats from the last eight games, Zaccheroni was sacked by the relegation-threatened club.

On January 29, 2010, Zaccheroni became the head coach of Juventus Turin . He followed Ciro Ferrara , finished the 2009/10 season with the Turin team in seventh place and left the club at the end of the season after his contract expired and was not renewed.

From August 2010 he coached the Japanese national soccer team . Japan became the first nation to qualify for the 2014 World Cup. In Brazil, however, the team did not get beyond the preliminary round . Subsequently, Zaccheroni resigned from his office.

From January 2016 to May 2016, Zaccheroni coached the Chinese first division team Beijing Guoan . He was the national coach of the United Arab Emirates from 2017 to 2019 .
