David Marcelo Pizarro Cortés (born September 11, 1979 in Valparaíso ) is a former Chilean football player who was most recently under contract with the CF Universidad de Chile .

Career

He began his career in 1997 in his hometown at the Club de Deportes Santiago Wanderers . In 1999 he moved to Italy in Serie A at Udinese Calcio . After winning the South American U20 championship with Chile in 1999, he played at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and won the bronze medal there with the team. He is now a regular in the Chilean senior national team. When he moved from Udinese Calcio to Inter Milan in summer 2005 , he was the second Chilean player after Iván Zamorano at the traditional Milan club.

Pizarro moved on August 19, 2006 to championship rivals AS Roma and to his "favorite" coach Luciano Spalletti .

On January 31, 2012, Manchester City announced that Pizarro would be loaned out until the end of the season. After the end of his loan agreement, he moved to the 2012/13 season for Fiorentina .
