Francesco Acerbi (born February 10, 1988 in Dresano , Milan ) is an Italian football player who is used in central defense. He is under contract with Lazio .
Career
society
Francesco Acerbi started his career in 2006 with AC Pavia . After two years on loan from AC Renate and Spezia Calcio , he was sold to Reggina Calcio . After a year he was signed by the Italian first division club AC Chievo Verona and after 17 games in the summer of 2012 transferred to AC Milan , which shared its transfer rights with CFC Genoa . At the end of January 2013, CFC Genoa acquired 100% of the transfer rights and lent Acerbi to Chievo Verona. For the 2013/14 season he moved to the first division promoted US Sassuolo Calcio . For the US Sassuolo, he played over 170 competitive games and reached the group stage in the 2016/17 Europa League with the team, in which they were eliminated from the bottom of the group.
For the 2018/19 season he moved to Lazio .
Cancer, positive doping test
In 2013 Acerbi developed testicular cancer. In December 2013, a doping test was positive. He had been given a hormone while on cancer therapy and had failed to report it to the doping control. The CONI lifted its ban in January 2014 and discontinued the proceedings. Acerbi is considered cured and returned to the US Sassuolo team in September 2014.
National team
On August 20, 2012 he was appointed by Cesare Prandelli for the first time for the Italian national team, but was not used. He made his international debut on November 18, 2014 in a 1-0 win over Albania . His second mission followed in March 2016 against Germany . Acerbi was last nominated for a training camp in May 2016, and has not been considered since then. In November 2018 he made his national team comeback after more than two and a half years. A year later, he scored his first goal for Squadra Azzura in his sixth international match .
